Beating Ars*nal was only the beginning...

There are still a lot of balls to be kicked this season

We currently sit in 3rd place, 2 points above Chelski in 4th and 7 points clear of poor old Ars*nal in 5th. Considering our goal is to finish in the Top 4, that's a pretty good place to be. It would take a collapse of last season's proportions to deny us a Champions League spot at this stage, and the commitment shown by the lads in Sunday's hard-won North London Derby, suggests that this isn't a side that's prepared to miss out again. That said, there's still a hell of a lot of football to be played, and we haven't earned anything yet.

Hugo Lloris has warned his teammates about the danger of complacency. He said,

"The season is not finished. There are 10 games to go so we have to keep concentration and be focused on the end of the season.
"Of course it's better to be in this position than Arsenal although we have to keep a lucidity of the situation. The most important thing is to be in the Champions League next season and I think we have to keep our ambition."
"We don't know what can happen so we have to keep going, not look at the other teams and be focused on ourselves. It will be another game next Sunday. Liverpool are playing maybe the best football in the Premier League at this moment. They proved that in their last game against Wigan. It will be a very difficult game but very exciting game in Anfield."

Hugo, the best 'keeper in the league, in my humble opinion.

Hugo's got it right on a couple of counts. Firstly, it's great to be ahead of the Arse, but we won't stay there if we keep looking over our shoulder. Finishing ahead of Ars*nal is not the priority. It will just be a very VERY welcome bonus come the end of the season. Secondly, Anfield will be a tough place to wrestle three points from this weekend, and that's just the start of a very difficult run-in.

A lot of fans seem to be underestimating how tough our last 10 fixtures are. We have by far the hardest run-in of any of the teams competing for the Champions League spots. Well actually, Everton have it equally hard, but I'm not really counting them!

LAST 10 FIXTURES

Now, if I was filthy gooner looking at that, I'd be thinking this race ain't over yet, we have some of our hardest fixtures yet to come. I know we're on winning form of late, but even the most ardent Spurs fan (like myself) knows that we're capable of dropping a good few points in those last 10 games...

The other factor is the Europa League. It will be virtually the same team that plays Inter this Thursday that travels to Anfield on Sunday, and then next week they'll be in Milan just three days before we play Fulham. It could be argued that this team is just about to enter its toughest run of fixtures yet. Don't get me wrong, beating Ars*nal was a huge boost to our chances of finishing in the Top 4, in fact, I think without those three points I'd be very nervous looking at those upcoming games.

Still, I reckon 7 points is enough of a cushion, and on our recent form, we should get a result at Anfield on Sunday, but like Hugo said, this season is far from finished.
